David Lynch (1946–2025) was a polymathic genius whose influence spans the worlds of cinema, visual arts, and music. While widely celebrated for his groundbreaking films such as 'Eraserhead', 'Blue Velvet', and the cult series 'Twin Peaks', Lynch always identified first as a painter. His visual art is a descent into the dark, tactile, and subconscious layers of the human psyche. Often incorporating organic matter, thick textures, and cryptic text, his paintings evoke a sense of 'Lynchian' unease—a blend of the mundane and the macabre. His work in lithography and photography further explores these themes of industrial decay and domestic mystery. Lynch was also a dedicated practitioner and advocate of Transcendental Meditation, founding the David Lynch Foundation to promote its benefits.
